This is a case that combines porcelain laminates and bridgework.  This patient was congenitally missing her upper canines (“eye teeth”).  The baby teeth that were in that place finally got to a point that they could not be maintained.  Therefore, the baby canines were removed.  The usual choices to replace these teeth would be implants or bridges.  Since the lateral incisors (the teeth next to the front teeth) already had large fillings, it was decided to place bridges.  A bridge is constructed by placing crowns (or caps) on the teeth on either side of the open space, then, suspending an artificial tooth across the gap.  To finish up her smile, we placed porcelain laminates on the two front teeth.  Getting the colors just right can be a very technically demanding feat due to the different thicknesses and backgrounds, but, as you can see, we got spectacular results.
